Splinter, from TMNT, is a central figure in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mythos. He first appeared in the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. Splinter is the Turtles' adoptive father and martial arts master.
Originally Hamato Yoshi, a skilled martial artist in Japan, he was forced to flee to New York City after a conflict with Oroku Saki (Shredder). In some iterations, exposure to mutagen transforms him into a humanoid rat.
He trains the Turtles in the art of ninjutsu, guiding them both as a sensei and a father figure. His wisdom, discipline, and compassion are crucial in shaping the Turtles into the heroes they become.
